Overview
SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) is the strategic cloud-based analytics platform that consolidates SAP Business Objects (BO) reporting, BPC (Business Planning and Consolidation), and SAP Predictive Analytics into a single SaaS product. SAC delivers three core capabilities under one subscription: BI Stories (interactive dashboards and reports), Planning Models (driver-based planning, budgeting, and forecasting with write-back to S/4HANA), and Smart Predict (automated machine learning for time-series, classification, and regression models).
SAC's key differentiator versus traditional BI tools is its Live Connection to SAP S/4HANA (via SAP HANA and BW), Datasphere, and HANA Cloud. Live connections bypass data replication — SAC queries execute directly against the source database in real time, returning fresh results at the moment of user interaction. This makes SAC suitable for operational analytics on current transactional data.
Under SAP Business Data Cloud (BDC), launched in 2025, SAC is bundled with Datasphere and SAP AI services into a single enterprise data and analytics subscription, replacing the need to license them individually.
