SAP's flagship unified data and AI platform announced in early 2025. Combines SAP Datasphere, SAP Analytics Cloud, AI Business Services, and the SAP One Domain Model into a single commercially integrated offering.
Overview
SAP Business Data Cloud (BDC) was announced at SAP Sapphire 2025 as SAP's strategic response to the growing demand for a unified, governed, AI-ready data and analytics platform. BDC brings together SAP Datasphere (data fabric and semantic layer), SAP Analytics Cloud (BI, planning, and predictive), and SAP AI Business Services under a single subscription and commercial model — replacing the previously fragmented approach of licensing DWC, SAC, and AI services separately.
The core architectural innovation in BDC is the SAP One Domain Model (ODM) — a shared semantic dictionary for key SAP business objects (Products, Customers, Cost Centres, Profit Centres, Financial Statements). ODM is pre-built into BDC, meaning out-of-the-box alignment between S/4HANA operational data and BDC analytical models without manual mapping effort.
BDC also introduces native Snowflake integration as an announced partnership — SAP's S/4HANA data can be replicated to Snowflake environments and governed via BDC's semantic layer, allowing customers with existing Snowflake investments to align with SAP's data fabric without abandoning their current infrastructure.

BI Stories, planning models, Smart Predict, and Integrated Financial Planning (iFP). The analytics and planning layer of BDC.
Pre-built semantic mappings for SAP business objects (Finance, Supply Chain, HR, Customer) aligning S/4HANA data with BDC models out of the box.
Document information extraction, text analysis, recommendation engine — AI services packaged into BDC for augmented analytics.
Dedicated HANA Cloud capacity for BDC Space storage, included at tier-defined capacity. Additional storage available as add-on.
BDC can federate into customer-owned Snowflake environments and govern Snowflake datasets via the Datasphere semantic layer.
Migration from DWC / Legacy Analytics
Customers on SAP Data Warehouse Cloud (DWC) have a direct upgrade path to SAP Datasphere (already generally available). BDC is the commercial bundle that includes Datasphere plus SAC and AI services. Existing DWC + SAC customers can migrate to BDC through a commercial re-licensing exercise — the technical assets (Spaces, models, stories) carry forward unchanged.
